Stuffed Fried Cuttlefish

Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh cuttlefish, cleaned

  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs

  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1 clove garlic, minced

  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

  • 1 large egg, beaten

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 4 cups vegetable oil (for frying)

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 large eggs, beaten (for coating)

  • 1 1/2 cups breadcrumbs (for coating)

  • Lemon wedges (for serving)

 

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling: In a bowl, mix breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic, parsley, egg, salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, and olive oil until well combined.

  2. Stuff the Cuttlefish: Fill each cuttlefish with the prepared stuffing, ensuring not to overfill.

  3. Coating Process: Place flour in one bowl, beaten eggs in another, and breadcrumbs in a third.

  4. Bread the Cuttlefish: Dredge each stuffed cuttlefish in flour, dip into beaten eggs, then coat with breadcrumbs.

  5. Fry: Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry the cuttlefish in batches for about 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.

  6. Drain & Serve: Remove from oil and place on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with lemon wedges. Enjoy!
