Colorful Fruit Platter with Grana Padano, Nuts & Herbs
Ingredients (Serves 4–6)
- 2 oz Grana Padano, shaved (crust > RIND may be used if well cleaned)
- 1 cup melon, cut into cubes
- 1 blood orange (Sanguinello), peeled and segmented
- 1 yellow peach, sliced
- 2 apricots, sliced
- 1 apple, slightly tart, sliced
- 1 apple, sweeter variety, sliced
- 6–8 strawberries, halved
- 1/4 cup walnuts, roughly broken
- 2 tbsp pine nuts
- Fresh mint leaves, to taste
To finish (optional)
- 1–2 tsp balsamic vinegar
- 1–2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
- Pinch ground coriander
Preparation
- Clean and prep the fruit
Wash all fruit thoroughly.
Peel, core, and slice or cube as needed so each piece is easy to pick up and eat.
- Start composing the platter
Choose a large, wide serving plate.
Begin placing the fruit in the center, starting with larger elements like apple slices and orange segments.
- Build color and balance
Add melon cubes, peach slices, apricots, and strawberries, alternating colors and shapes.
Avoid straight lines—overlap slightly and vary heights for a natural, abundant look.
- Continue layering
Keep adding fruit until the plate is generously covered, adjusting placement to create harmony and visual rhythm.
- Add nuts
Scatter walnuts and pine nuts “here and there” for crunch and contrast.
- Add herbs
Tuck fresh mint leaves between the fruit for aroma and freshness.
- Finish with Grana Padano
Shave Grana Padano generously over the platter, filling any remaining spaces and adding savory depth.
- Optional final touches
If desired, add a few drops of balsamic vinegar.
Drizzle lightly with extra-virgin olive oil.
Finish with a very small pinch of ground coriander—just enough to surprise and connect sweet and savory notes.
- Serve
Serve immediately at room temperature, letting guests help themselves.
